About
The artist
I'm Charline Moncoucut, a French UX/UI designer with a background in Graphic Design and illustration. I created Echolonely because I love drawing bugs, plants, rocks, anything that inspires me in nature.
I've always been kind of a loner, and to be honest, I love being alone. And talking is hard for me, but I also want to connect with like-minded people. Art is a good way to do that. If people around me do not like bugs, I know there is a huge community of people who love bugs online and, if you read this, chances are you are part of it :)
Why Echolonely
With Echolonely I want to
- Help people build a nest in their home filled with their special interests. And bring their special interests around in their daily life.
- Show the beauty of all those tiny unloved creatures.
- Help preserving nature by educating people about it through art. We fear what we don't know, knowledge is one way of making the world a better place.
The name Echolonely comes from a mix of
- Echolalia: the meaningless repetition of sounds of words. Which is a common thing in neurodivergent people. And for me it also translates in my art style: repeating patterns, symetry, drawing what I see etc...
- Lonely: because I felt lonely almost all my life. Sometimes it was painful, but now I learned to enjoy being alone.
Sustainability efforts
Everything we consume has an impact on ecology. To help mitigate that I chose to work only with either fully natural or recycled products, with a print on demand system.
I keep no stock, and every order you make is produced especially for you, in a facility closest to your place. This way there is less waste and the carbon impact is lowered.
Sensory friendliness
As a neurodivergent person, I know the struggle of finding items matching with your sensitivities. I try as much as possible to choose sensory-friendly products, and produce art with muted, dark and soft colors to avoid overwhelm.
