Reflecting on Mothtober: A Month of Moth-Inspired Art
Share
November is here, and with it, the close of Artober. I'm excited (and a bit amazed) to share that I completed every drawing for my custom Mothtober list!
Seeing them all together is so rewarding. Now I'd like to know: Which one is your favorite?

The challenge and the joys
Was it tough? Well, yes and no. Some days, finding the time and energy was challenging. Each piece took a few hours, and pushing through on low-energy days was hard. But once I got going, the process was often meditative and deeply relaxing—a form of active meditation.
Lessons learned
This journey taught me a lot, from digital drawing techniques in Infinite Painter to a new appreciation for moths and their beauty. Here are some highlights:
- Digital Skills: Practicing on my tablet helped me get comfortable with this tool, discover the brushes I love most and how to use them to create textures effectively.
- Coloring and Proportions: My eye for color and shape improved, and I feel a new confidence in my skills.
- Creativity with Decor: Experimenting with compositions sparked ideas I can’t wait to revisit.
- Moth Appreciation: I learned to see the intricate, often subtle beauty in each moth—every pattern, every hue. And discovered many species I didn't know about.
What's next?
- Mothly calendar 2025 - I’ll create a calendar featuring the month’s top-voted pieces! Feel free to Vote here and help decide which drawings will make the cut.
- New prints coming soon - Prints of popular pieces are on the way. Sign up for my newsletter (below this post) to be the first to know when they drop.
- New Challenges: I’m considering an centipede-inspired series and maybe a new “Roll for Insect” TikTok series—think dice rolls and creative challenges. Follow my Tiktok account to get notified! But first, a short break to regroup and focus on building up my store and social media presence.
Thank you for following along this journey! Each comment, like and feedback means so much to me and helps me grow as an aspiring artist.
