Mothtober week 1 - How it went and what I learned

Mothtober week 1 - How it went and what I learned

This year I challenged myself to complete Inktober, but the official prompt list didn't inspire me. And as I really like drawing bugs and want to improve my skills, I created my own prompt list: Mothtober. One moth a day for 31 days.

I published the list on my tumblr blog and on tiktok, and to my suprise, 3 people are doing it with me!

Here are my first week drawings:

garden tiger moth:
Goat moth:
Io moth:
Puss moth:

Death's Head Hawk Moth:

Vapourer moth:

It's in fact my second week of drawing moths, as I started early because I won't be there the week of the 20th. But already so much progress is visible. I really love the Vapourer Moth and the smoke like decor. I felt a net improve in the shadows and light management. It was a pleasure to draw and I enjoy this style.

As I started drawing the last moth of this week, I felt my motivation start to weather a bit, but I pushed through it and I'm glad I did, because so far it's my favorite of the moth...month.

What do you think of them? Do you have a favorite?

You can still join me if you'd like! Here is the list:
